Arsenal Request Change Of Everton Fixture Due To Tight Schedule
Sports Updated: 11 November 2025 14:29 EAT
Arsenal have officially asked the Premier League to reschedule their upcoming clash against Everton to avoid playing two matches within three days. The request follows the recent decision to move their Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Crystal Palace to December 23, creating a scheduling conflict.
As it stands, Arsenal are due to visit Everton on December 21, just 48 hours before the domestic cup fixture. Manager Mikel Arteta has voiced concerns about player welfare and fairness, saying the tight turnaround would be difficult to manage, especially during a demanding festive period.
The club’s formal appeal has been submitted to the Premier League, which now holds the authority to decide whether the fixture will be moved. Arsenal are reportedly seeking a later date to ensure adequate rest and preparation time for both league and cup commitments.
Meanwhile, the English Football League (EFL) has criticized the growing fixture congestion affecting top clubs, warning that such scheduling pressures could impact the quality and integrity of competitions. No official decision on Arsenal’s request has been made yet.
