Arsenal incoming set piece (throw ins) coach Thomas Gronnemark

Arsenal have appointed Thomas Grønnemark, a specialist throw-in coach, to strengthen their set-piece play as they pursue the Premier League title. The Danish expert is expected to work closely with the coaching staff to enhance both the distance and tactical impact of Arsenal’s throw-ins.

Grønnemark is renowned for his work with Liverpool, where he served under Jürgen Klopp from 2018 to 2023. During his time at Anfield, he helped the team transform throw-ins into genuine attacking opportunities, contributing to their domestic and European successes.

The coach holds a world record for the longest throw-in, measuring 51.33 metres. This achievement has underlined his reputation as one of the leading authorities on maximizing the potential of throw-ins in modern football.

One of his most notable contributions at Liverpool was working with Andy Robertson. Under Grønnemark’s guidance, Robertson increased his throw-in distance from around 19 metres to 27 metres, providing Liverpool with a significant set-piece weapon.

At Arsenal, Grønnemark will operate on a consultancy basis, visiting the club to run specialized training sessions. The aim is to refine technique, increase consistency, and integrate throw-ins into the team’s broader attacking patterns.

Arsenal are already among the Premier League leaders in scoring from set pieces. The club believes that adding Grønnemark’s expertise could provide marginal gains that prove decisive in close matches during the title run-in.

Mikel Arteta has emphasized the importance of every detail in the title chase. By bringing in Grønnemark, Arsenal aim to exploit every opportunity from dead-ball situations and throw-ins, potentially giving them a competitive edge in the final stages of the season.
