Arsenal have reached Budapest ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskás Aréna, marking a major moment in the club’s European campaign as they prepare for a high-stakes encounter in Hungary.
The London club enters the final after a strong continental run, with confidence building across the squad following consistent performances under manager Mikel Arteta throughout the season.
Defender Jurriën Timber is part of the travelling squad after returning to full training, offering an important defensive boost as Arsenal assess final tactical options before the match.
Arteta and his coaching staff have continued final preparations on arrival, focusing on structured training sessions, opposition analysis, and set-piece organisation ahead of the final.
The squad is reported to be in a focused and calm mood, balancing recovery work with tactical drills as attention shifts fully to the decisive fixture against PSG.
A strong travelling support is expected from Arsenal fans in Budapest, adding to the atmosphere around the Puskás Aréna as anticipation builds for one of the biggest nights in the club’s recent history.
Josh Kroenke on Arsenal: “I knew we were a sleeping giant that we needed to awaken in some way. Champions of England sounds pretty good and champions of Europe could sound even better, especially with the Double tied to it.
“But we have a chance here. We have very strong foundations in place to continue to build and try to sustain.
“Getting the foundations in place is usually the hardest part of the journey and now we have all this, it is about trying to stay at the top knowing everyone is trying to climb the mountain after you.”
Josh Kroenke: “Keeping Mikel Arteta around is an utmost priority and the good news for Arsenal fans worldwide is he’s enjoying the project. He is enjoying being here and, from his time as a player all the way up until now, he’s an Arsenal man through and through.
“If there is a singular person you can trace this all back to, I’m going to give 100 per cent credit to Mikel, his staff and the players. Those are the ones. As much as Mikel is putting together our tactics, the players have got to go play the games, they’ve got to go and win for you.”
Kroenke on Bournemouth Vs City: “I actually went into my bedroom and turned it on, because I was just flying into the door. And I don’t think anybody wanted to experience the energy that I was having at that moment in time.
“I only wish I would have been able to be present with the group at the training facility. But when we did win, there was an unexpected outpouring of emotion for me.
“I was very emotional for a few hours, thinking about the journey and the different points along the way, because there were some very tough times.”
Josh Kroenke: “I had a great conversation with Per Mertesacker after that final in Baku.
“I made a comment about Virgil van Dijk, who had arrived at Liverpool a year or two before."
“I said: ‘How do we get one of these guys into our system?’
“Per replied: ‘Well unless you’ve got 100 million quid, you better not be thinking about him.’
“I said: ‘Well who’s the best young defender in Europe?’ Per turned without hesitation and said: ‘William Saliba’.”
