The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will proceed in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as originally planned. CAF President Patrice Motsepe dismissed reports of postponement or relocation as unfounded, affirming the commitment of all three nations to host the tournament.

Motsepe made the announcement following a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Dar es Salaam, emphasizing that preparations are on track and that there are no plans to transfer hosting rights. The 2027 edition will be the first to be jointly staged by three countries and the first in East Africa in decades.

Officials from the host countries have pledged full cooperation with CAF, ensuring that stadiums, transport networks, and other infrastructure meet the required standards. Inspection teams are currently reviewing facilities to guarantee readiness ahead of the tournament.

Despite some media speculation about possible delays or logistical challenges, CAF maintains confidence in the ability of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to deliver a successful event. Motsepe noted that collaboration among the three football associations has been strong, allowing for a coordinated approach to tournament preparations.

The 2027 AFCON is scheduled for June and July and will feature 24 teams competing across the three nations. CAF also confirmed that future editions of the tournament will shift to a four-year cycle starting in 2028, aligning the competition more closely with other major international football events.

This announcement marks a historic moment for East African football, as it will be the first time multiple countries in the region jointly host Africa’s premier football championship. CAF continues to monitor progress, ensuring that all aspects of the tournament adhere to continental standards.
