The 57th edition of the Magical Kenya Open has received a significant boost ahead of its February 19–22, 2026 staging at Karen Country Club with Absa Bank Kenya committing KSh 65 million to support the prestigious golf championship.

The DP World Tour event will bring together 144 elite golfers from more than 25 countries, including several Kenyan professionals and amateurs, all competing for a total prize purse of KSh 348.3 million (about USD 5 million).

Of Absa’s sponsorship, KSh 40 million is earmarked for the event’s organiser, Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL), to help with logistics and tournament operations. The remaining KSh 25 million will fund marketing and fan-experience initiatives aimed at engaging spectators, partners, and Absa stakeholders.

Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and CEO Abdi Mohamed said the investment  underscores the bank’s long-term commitment to sports and national branding:
“At Absa, our purpose is Empowering Africa’s Tomorrow Together… one story at a time…”.

The sponsorship also includes support for junior golfers through the “Beat the Pro” challenge, where young talents get the chance to play alongside professionals and winners receive fully funded Absa Junior Accounts.

Officials highlighted that Absa’s support, now in its 15th year, has helped elevate the Magical Kenya Open into one of Africa’s premier sports tourism events, boosting Kenya’s visibility on the global golf stage while fostering local talent and inclusive participation.
