Kenyan R&B sensation Xenia Manasseh has earned a nomination for the prestigious Grammy Awards, marking a monumental milestone for the local music industry. Expressing her profound joy and gratitude on her Instagram page, the singer declared that this achievement transcends her personal success, stating,
"This is a win for me and the Kenyan music industry at large."
The nomination immediately thrusts Kenyan musical talent onto the global stage, solidifying Manasseh’s status as one of Africa’s most promising talents.
Her nomination comes after she was credited as a songwriter on American singer Teyana Taylor's album "Escape Room," which has been nominated for Best R&B Album.
Fans have continued to express their congratulatory messages towards her art. Xenia Manasseh sets a good example of the struggling Kenyan music space, which is yet to get attention from a global audience.
She joins other African artists for the GRAMMYS, e.g., Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo in collaboration with Mehran Matin for 'Hope & Love,' while South Africa's star Tyla has been nominated for her hit song 'Push 2 Start.'
Nigerian music stars have not been left behind from the nomination. Ayra Starr and Wizkid's "Gimme Dat" join Davido and Omah Lay's "With You" and Burna Boy's "Love" in the best African Music Performance category
The Recording Academy has announced that the 2026 GRAMMYs will take place on Sunday, February 1, in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena.
The Recording Academy has also added two new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover. This comes due to the growing music industry over the years.
