Vihiga Queens sign Five players ahead of New Season
Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) Champions Vihiga Queens are expected to unleash five new players ahead of the new season scheduled to kick off on September 24.
The Queens are looking to retain the title they won last season, and the coach has confirmed that the five new payers are part of his strategy for the new campaign.
The Four-time KWPL Champions will unveil the new five players on Wednesday during the team’s training session.
“We are the champions and we want to remain as such, that’s why we have decided to beef up our squad. After very intensive trials, we have settled on five players who are all local. I’m hoping that they will help us to defend our title and replace well the players who have already left.’’
The Boniface Nyamunyamu led outfit have also released Defender Eve Chemutai Selim and striker Agnes Olesi in the current window after both joining FCK Queens courtesy of a full education sponsorship with the Kaimosi based College in Vihiga County.
Meanwhile Coach NyamuNyamuh has expressed his confidence that the new Government under President William Ruto will fast track the readmission of Kenya to international football by FIFA.
“Kenya football has been struggling for some time now and it’s my prayer that the new President will intervene so that FIFA lifts suspension. If it was not for suspension, we would now be preparing to take part in the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco later this year. I’m also urging my players to stay focused and work hard in training so as to attain our dream f retaining the KWPL title, that next season we can represent the country in Champions League,” concluded the coach.
