Three Killed in Kisumu Blast
A suicide bomber detonated himself, killing two more yesterday evening in Nyakach, Kisumu County.
The victims, man and wife, aged 55 years, died as their daughter sustained injuries during the blast and was admitted to a hospital. The attacker died on the spot.
The police said the bomber, which used locally made explosives he tied around his waist, is a returnee from the al-Shabaab terrorist group.
Two years ago, the attacker tried to kill his 16-year-old girlfriend in their rented house in Katito town, where he made an explosive and left it in the place. It exploded and injured the girlfriend over alleged infidelity.
The attacker, an orphan and class 5 dropout, left home more than five years ago for Mombasa, where he joined al-Shabaab and later came back.
An officer who sought anonymity said police are on high alert with security beefed up across the county.
Members of the public have been advised to stay alert and report suspicious activities in their midst to the nearby police station.
Police, however, assured the public of the security and safety after the terror-related incident
