Arsenal Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres in an interview
Viktor Gyökeres has given an insight into his life at Arsenal F.C., revealing that he spends much of his spare time at the club’s training ground as he adapts to the Premier League environment.
When asked how he passes his free time, the Swedish striker laughed: “I hang out here [at the training ground] most of the time!” His comments suggest a strong commitment to integrating fully with the team and absorbing the club’s culture.
Gyökeres highlighted the teammates he is closest with, pointing to fellow Scandinavians in the squad. “The Scandinavian guys in the team, Christian [Nørgaard] and Martin [Ødegaard], I hang out with them a lot,” he said.
However, the striker emphasized that the squad has a welcoming and cohesive atmosphere. “I think it’s easy to hang out with most of the guys in the team to be honest and I think we are that group where everyone can be with everyone so I think it’s a good group,” Gyökeres explained, reflecting on the team’s camaraderie.
He also discussed Arsenal’s ongoing challenge to win silverware, drawing from his previous experiences in Portugal with Sporting CP, where he helped the club secure consecutive league titles. “For the last two years I have been in quite a similar situation in different ways where we’ve been fighting for titles,” Gyökeres said.
The striker acknowledged the difficulties of competing at the top. “It has been tough in different stages in the season and the rivals have been close to us in the league table. But luckily we managed to finish first in both seasons I was at Sporting, which was obviously amazing,” he added.
Gyökeres said that his experience in title races provides confidence for the current campaign. “So I think being in this position now with Arsenal, I think it’s helping me just having the belief and the excitement being in this position right now and not fearing things too much,” he said.
He also highlighted how prior successes can inspire teammates. “Yeah of course, if you’ve been in similar situations that you felt and you won in the end, of course that’s going to help you believe that you can do it again,” Gyökeres explained, suggesting his leadership comes through example.
The striker remains upbeat about Arsenal’s prospects, praising the squad’s unity and the collective belief as they push for major honours this season, with Gyökeres confident his experience can play a role in guiding the team through challenging moments.
