President William Samoei Ruto on Thursday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive national development, declaring that no part of the country will be left behind under his transformation agenda.
Speaking in Mombasa during a series of engagements, the President said his goal is to build a nation that every Kenyan can be proud of, regardless of geography, community, religion or political affiliation.
At State House, Mombasa, President Ruto met leaders from the Coast region to discuss pressing development priorities and review the status of key government projects.
During the meeting, it was noted that several crucial projects that had previously stalled have now resumed, signaling renewed momentum in the Coast’s development drive.
Among the major commitments announced was the decision to dual the Mombasa–Malindi and Mombasa–Lunga Lunga highways as part of the national infrastructure transformation agenda aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity.
The President said the highway projects will enhance trade, tourism and ease of movement along the Coast, while also creating employment opportunities for local residents.
Land reform also featured prominently in the discussions, with the government pledging to accelerate the issuance of title deeds to resolve longstanding land ownership challenges in the region.
President Ruto further committed to expanding access to education and upgrading a major coastal hospital to national referral status to improve the provision of quality healthcare services.
Later in the day, the Head of State presided over the disbursement of NYOTA Business Start-Up Capital at the Jomo Kenyatta Showground in Mkomani, Mombasa County.
A total of KSh147 million was distributed to 5,880 young entrepreneurs drawn from Mombasa, Kwale and Taita-Taveta counties, in a move aimed at boosting youth-led enterprises.
The President said his administration’s job creation strategy is deliberate and multi-dimensional, anchored in real opportunities across key sectors of the economy.
He noted that the government is no longer speaking about jobs in general terms, but is delivering tangible opportunities through the Affordable Housing Programme, infrastructure projects, the digital economy, labour mobility initiatives and business grants.
President Ruto also highlighted the expansion of public sector employment, citing the hiring of 100,000 teachers over the past three years as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery.
He observed that young people across the country are increasingly focused on gainful employment and entrepreneurship, taking advantage of available opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
The President added that as more youth engage in productive work and business, they will be less susceptible to political mischief, reinforcing stability as the country advances its development agenda.
