Rashford, Mount and Pope withdraw from England squad
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount and Newcastle keeper Nick Pope have withdrawn from the England squad for this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers.
United forward Rashford reportedly picked up a knock during his side's FA Cup quarter-final win against Fulham on Sunday.
The Mancunian’s absence is a serious blow for England given he has been in top form since the World Cup, scoring 19 goals for United after netting three times in five appearances.
Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster is the only replacement called up by Southgate, who named a 25-man squad last week.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount is also recovering from an injury and will stay back with Nick pope staying at Newcastle.
England manager Gareth Southgate had included the trio in the initial 25-man squad but confirmed aside from Tottenham Keeper Fraser Foster, no further replacements will take place.
England travel to Italy on 23 March before hosting Ukraine at Wembley on 26 March.
