Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford has been named the winner of the Premier League’s Save of the Month award for August 2025 after his outstanding stop against Brighton.
Trafford produced a remarkable reflex save at the Amex Stadium, denying Jan Paul van Hecke’s close-range, deflected strike with a stunning left-hand stop. The effort looked destined for the net, but Trafford’s agility and sharp reactions kept Burnley level.
This marks the 21-year-old’s first Save of the Month award since the accolade was introduced in the 2022/23 season. He beat competition from Mads Hermansen, José Sá, Bernd Leno, Guglielmo Vicario, and Matz Sels to clinch the prize, with the winner decided through a combination of public votes and an expert panel.
A proud milestone in his career, Trafford becomes the first Manchester City-trained goalkeeper to claim the award, underlining his growing reputation as one of the Premier League’s brightest young shot-stoppers.
