The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) says its grassroots elections are now 98% complete, with only a few remaining areas pending final resolution as the party works to conclude the exercise.

Party leadership has urged members in areas where elections are still outstanding to rely on internal dispute resolution mechanisms to settle disagreements and complete the process within the shortest time possible.

“As part of concluding the exercise, we urge our party members in the areas where grassroots elections have not been concluded to exhaust the relevant internal disputes resolution mechanisms to reach an agreeable conclusion.”

ODM has also announced a nationwide youth mobilisation programme aimed at revitalising its support base through county-level conventions scheduled across 25 counties. The initiative will begin in Nairobi on April 20, 2026, followed by Mombasa on April 26, before a short break for a joint parliamentary group and governance retreat from May 1 to May 3.

“As part of the activation program, we shall be embarking on countrywide tours for a series of youth conventions aimed at rejuvenating, revamping and re-energizing the party.”

“These activities will be held in 25 counties and will begin with Nairobi as follows: Monday 20th April 2026, a youth conference in Nairobi County. Sunday 26th April 2026, Mombasa. On Friday 1st May to Sunday 3rd May 2026, we shall break for the joint parliamentary group and governance retreat.”

On internal preparations for future elections, the party has assured members that nominations will be open, competitive, and transparent, with no preferential treatment for any aspirants.

“Our members and supporters should remain focused, steadfast, and continue keeping the fire of the party burning.”

“We want to ensure our members and supporters that in the build up to the general election, we shall conduct free and fair nominations and there will be no sacred cows for any position sought.”

“The National Secretariat shall soon be opening a portal for members to apply for all elective positions.”

ODM also raised concern over remarks attributed to senior United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials, warning that such statements risk undermining political cooperation.

“The central committee noted with concern the goings on and the unwarranted public utterances by some senior officials of the UDA party aimed at causing anxiety and disquiet.”

“As a party that believes in its principles, ideology and the foundation on which it was founded, we demand respect from the UDA party.”

On economic issues, ODM acknowledged public concern over rising fuel prices, noting global pressure but urging government action to cushion citizens.

“Kenyans are concerned about the increase in fuel prices. We know this is a global problem. While noting the government's efforts to mitigate the situation, we continue to push it to do more to cushion Kenyans from effects of the crisis.”

The party says it will continue strengthening internal structures while engaging in national dialogue as political activity intensifies ahead of the next electoral cycle.
