Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has said he will not rush into making political decisions ahead of the 2027 General Election, insisting that Kenya's future requires careful consideration rather than hurried alliances.

Speaking during a public meeting in Kiharu, Nyoro recalled his role in campaigning for the Kenya Kwanza coalition during the 2022 elections. He said he and then-Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua were among the leaders who traversed the country extensively to popularise the coalition's bottom-up economic agenda after many other candidates returned to focus on defending their parliamentary and county seats.

Nyoro recounted travelling across counties including Nyandarua and Marsabit, saying they worked tirelessly to market the coalition's message and secure electoral support. He questioned the current whereabouts of some leaders who had actively participated in the campaign, asking, "Mko wapi sasa?" as he reflected on the coalition's political journey.

The legislator said he recently told Kenyans that deciding the country's political direction for the next election is too important to be made hastily. He explained that he intends to make a decision he can defend both now and in the future after carefully evaluating the available options.

Nyoro argued that past elections have shown that some leaders make campaign promises without fully understanding the country's governance challenges. According to him, this often results in governments spending considerable time determining their priorities after assuming office instead of immediately implementing a clear development agenda.

He cited what he described as the relaunching of projects that had already been established during the administration of Kenya's founding President Jomo Kenyatta, saying such actions reflected a lack of a well-defined governing direction at the beginning of an administration.

The Kiharu MP said his political decisions will be guided by consultations with his constituents, whom he referred to as his "wadosi." He maintained that the future of Kenya cannot be treated as an ordinary choice, saying leadership decisions have far-reaching consequences for millions of citizens.

Nyoro stressed that any political alignment he eventually chooses must place the interests of ordinary Kenyans at the centre rather than focusing on the distribution of political positions. He said the key question should be what Kenya ultimately becomes as a nation.

Using the analogy of responding to a whistle, Nyoro said experienced leaders should not rush to every political call without first understanding its purpose. He told supporters that political maturity requires careful judgement instead of impulsive reactions driven by short-term political developments.

He concluded by saying he wants to make the kind of thoughtful and deliberate decisions associated with former Presidents Mwai Kibaki and veteran opposition leader Kenneth Matiba, signalling that he will continue consulting widely before announcing his political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
