Nico Williams extends contract at Athletic Club despite Barcelona transfer links

Nico Williams has snubbed waiting for Barcelona to pay for his release clause of €58M to join them and opted to sign a new deal at Athletic Club that runs to the summer of 2035.
Earlier this transfer window Nico's agents had already reached out to Barcelona's sporting director Deco in offer to initiate the signing of the star singer from Athletic Club this summer but due to Barcelona's financial constraints that prohibits them from signing anyone he opted to stay.
Barcelona have had cases of being unable to register players with the same case happening to Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo who was unable to register due to La Liga setting rules that barred Barcelona to register the player in time to feature la Liga games last season.
Nico Williams told Barça that he wanted to sign there of his own free will. The agent explained to Barça that there would be no problem. Yesterday, the agent told Barça that he would wait another week.
Then he extended his contract. FC Barcelona is shocked by such disrespect and lack of transparency.
But according to sources the delay of the deal cause outrage among Athletic Club fans forcing them to send messages to Williams of disrespecting his boyhood club where he was mentored nurtured and his talent developed .
