Newcastle United have reportedly edged ahead in the pursuit of Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško, with journalist Jernej Suhadolnik revealing the player has given the green light for negotiations to begin with RB Leipzig.
The 21-year-old is said to be fully convinced by the Newcastle project, especially after their strong Premier League campaign last season that saw them narrowly miss out on a Champions League spot. Encouraged by the team’s ambitions and vision, Šeško has opted to pursue a move to St. James' Park.
The Magpies’ initial offer of €75 million plus €5 million in add-ons was rejected by RB Leipzig, but a second bid is expected soon. Meanwhile, Manchester United — once strong contenders for his signature — are reportedly fading from the race after Šeško received advice from Jürgen Klopp, now serving as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer.
