Mexican giants Monterrey have reached an agreement to sign French striker Anthony Martial from AEK Athens. The move sees the former AS Monaco and Manchester United forward join the Rayados project, where he will link up with Spanish defender Sergio Ramos.
Martial, 29, arrives in Mexico seeking a fresh start after a mixed spell in Greece. The Frenchman, once regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects, struggled with injuries and inconsistency in recent years but remains a player with vast experience at the top level.
The addition of Martial adds further star power to Monterrey’s squad as they continue to build a team capable of challenging for Liga MX supremacy and continental honours. The club hopes that under a new environment, the forward can rediscover his form and make a decisive impact in front of goal.
