Menengai Oilers Keep Sevens Title Hopes Alive

Menengai Oilers head coach Geoffrey Ominde has expressed confidence that his team is still firmly in contention for the National Sevens Series crown, despite sitting third on the log with 64 points. The Oilers trail leaders KCB, who have 82 points, and second-placed Strathmore Leos with 80.
KenyOminde’s optimism comes after the Nakuru-based side secured a third-place finish at the Embu Sevens, adding to their consistent displays this season. He believes the title race is far from over, noting that with 44 points still available, the Oilers have everything to play for. The team has impressed with its young talent, led by John Okoth and Dennis Abukuse, and reached the Christie Sevens final earlier in the campaign.
Ahead of the Kabeberi Sevens, Ominde stressed the importance of improving in key areas, particularly in kick-off reception and defensive organization. Drawn in a challenging pool with Kabras, Embu, and Kisumu RFC, the Oilers face stiff opposition but remain upbeat about their chances of finishing the season strongly.
