Manchester city players celebrate a win against Newcastle united

Manchester City knocked Newcastle United out of the FA Cup with a 3–1 victory at St James’ Park to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Newcastle United made a strong start to the match and took the lead in the 18th minute through Harvey Barnes, who finished off a well-worked attacking move to give the home side an early advantage.

Manchester City responded before halftime when Savinho scored the equaliser in the 39th minute after sustained pressure from Pep Guardiola’s side.

City completed the turnaround shortly after the break when Omar Marmoush found the net just two minutes into the second half following an assist from Matheus Nunes.

Marmoush added his second goal of the night in the 65th minute with a powerful strike from distance, effectively putting the game beyond Newcastle’s reach.

Despite resting several key players, including Erling Haaland, Manchester City controlled large periods of the match and showed their squad depth throughout the contest.

The victory sends City into the FA Cup quarter-finals for the eighth consecutive season as they continue their pursuit of domestic silverware.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, exit the competition after failing to respond in the closing stages despite making several attacking substitutions.
