Arsenal forward Noni Madueke has officially been reclassified as a 'homegrown' player by the Premier League, following a successful request made prior to the end of the 2024–25 season.
The 23-year-old recently joined Arsenal from Chelsea and was previously listed by his former club as a non-homegrown player as recently as February. However, the Premier League has now confirmed that Madueke meets the criteria for homegrown status.
According to league rules, a player must be registered with an English or Welsh FA-affiliated club for at least three full seasons before the age of 21 to be considered homegrown. Despite spending several years in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven, Madueke had earlier spent the required time within Tottenham Hotspur’s youth system.
Although he did not feature for Spurs’ senior side, his time at their academy between the ages of 13 and 16 was sufficient to satisfy the league’s requirements.
