Liverpool football club is devastated to hear the passing on of their star Portuguese forward Diogo Jota who died together with his brother Andre who plays for Portuguese side Panafiel.

The two perished on Thursday morning at Zamora province of Spain.

The two brothers Jota and Andre were aged 28 and 25 respectively and had gone for a vacation in Spain following the end of the EPL league as they waited the kickstart of preseason with their clubs.

Nonetheless the star had just wedded his wife a few days ago in a wedding that meant to cement their relationship.

However many people have had to condole his family. Among them are football stars Christiano Ronaldo of Portugal and Lionel Messi of Argentina.

Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has this to say: Today, Portuguese football is absolutely devastated. We are all in mourning, the Portuguese Football Federation, this generation of players, and what Diogo represented today, and if I may, also André [his brother].

"Diogo was what we all want to be, he was a reference for Portuguese football, he was a talent of his generation, but much more than that, today we are all mourning the barbaric sadness of the news we received today."

National team teammate Christiano Ronaldo had this to say:

It doesn't make sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you had gotten married. To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. RIP, Diogo and André. We will all miss you."
