Liverpool F.C. produced a dominant display to thrash Galatasaray S.K. 4-0 at Anfield on 18 March 2026, overturning a first-leg deficit to advance 4-1 on aggregate into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The English side came into the decisive second leg trailing 1-0 from the encounter in Istanbul, but responded emphatically in front of their home supporters with a high-intensity attacking performance.

Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring midway through the first half, giving Liverpool the early momentum and leveling the aggregate scoreline.

Liverpool maintained relentless pressure after the break, with Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch adding further goals to put the tie beyond Galatasaray’s reach.

Mohamed Salah, who had missed a first-half penalty, redeemed himself by scoring later in the match to seal the emphatic victory for the hosts.

The goal marked a historic milestone for Salah, who became the first African player to reach 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League competition.

Galatasaray struggled throughout the contest, failing to match Liverpool’s tempo and creating limited chances as their European campaign came to an end.

The result sends Liverpool into the quarter-finals, where they are set to face Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in a highly anticipated clash as the tournament intensifies.
