Liverpool secured a crucial 2–0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night to move level on points with second-placed Bournemouth and just seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time before Ryan Gravenberch doubled the lead in the 58th minute, sealing all three points for Jürgen Klopp’s side. The result lifted Liverpool to third place in the Premier League standings with 18 points from 10 matches.
Arsenal continue to lead the table on 25 points after 10 games, with Bournemouth second on goal difference ahead of Liverpool. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Sunderland complete the top six.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, dropped to 11th with 15 points as their inconsistent start to the season continues.
At the bottom of the table, Wolves remain rooted in 20th with just two points, while West Ham and Nottingham Forest complete the relegation zone.
