Leeds United secured a convincing 3‑0 victory over Norwich City in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday, March 8, booking their place in the quarter‑finals for the first time since 2003.

Goals from Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Joël Piroe powered the hosts to a comprehensive win at Elland Road, ending a long wait to reach the last eight of football’s oldest domestic cup competition.

Longstaff opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, volleying home after good build‑up play gave Leeds the lead and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Just before half‑time, Gudmundsson doubled the advantage, finishing from close range after cutting inside and capitalising on a defensive lapse from the Championship visitors.

Norwich, who had enjoyed a strong run of form in recent weeks, struggled to match Leeds’ intensity and failed to register meaningful attacking moments in the first half.

The contest was effectively put beyond reach late in the game when Piroe added a third goal in the 85th minute, finishing a swift counter‑attack to seal the victory and spark celebrations among the home supporters.

The result was a welcome boost for Leeds, who had endured a challenging spell in the Premier League, and will take confidence from a dominant showing as they progress deeper into the prestigious cup competition.

Head coach Daniel Farke praised his side’s performance and squad depth, highlighting the clean sheet and clinical finishing as key factors in progressing to the FA Cup quarter‑finals.

Leeds now join the other seven teams in the last eight and will await Monday’s quarter‑final draw to learn their next opponents in the quest for FA Cup glory.
