Kitui County is gearing up to host its first-ever national Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20th, a landmark event that has triggered significant infrastructure development across the region.
Among the key projects is the accelerated construction of the Ithookwe Stadium, which the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has confirmed is nearing completion and will be ready in time for the national holiday.
The 10,000-capacity stadium, being put up at a cost of Ksh 700 million, is being built to international standards, with the government aiming to use it for future international matches and other major events.
In addition to the stadium, the Ithookwe Airstrip, which had fallen into disrepair, is also being rehabilitated at Sh150 million.
The national event is catalyzing significant development, including upgrades to roads, electricity, and water supply, alongside key rehabilitation projects, which will leave a lasting legacy for Kitui residents.
