Kenyan fencer Alexandra Ndolo has filed a case at the Milimani Law Courts against the Fencing Federation of Kenya, the Sports Registrar, and the Principal Secretary for Sports, citing concerns over governance and transparency. The petition, lodged on August 26, 2025, calls for accountability in the management of the sport’s affairs.
Ndolo, who became the first Kenyan fencer to compete at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, is demanding a detailed statement of accounts showing all funds received and spent by the federation over the past four years. She also wants the court to compel the holding of democratic elections to ensure proper leadership and fair representation for athletes and stakeholders.
The fencer argues that opaque financial practices and lack of inclusive decision-making have hampered the growth of fencing in Kenya. Her move reflects broader frustrations among athletes who have in recent years raised alarm over mismanagement in various sports federations across the country.
The case is expected to test the enforcement of sports governance laws in Kenya, with the outcome likely to influence how federations handle transparency and accountability in the future. Stakeholders are watching closely, as the ruling could set a precedent for athletes pushing for reforms in other disciplines.
