Kenya Rugby sevens when they beat Uruguay 17 to 7

Kenya national rugby sevens team finished third with 12 points in the opening leg of the HSBC SVNS Division Two held at Nyayo National Stadium on 14–15 February 2026. The Nairobi tournament marked the first stop of the restructured second-tier global sevens circuit.

Kenya accumulated 12 points over the course of the competition, placing level on points with the United States national rugby sevens team but ranking below them on points difference. The final standings were determined after all pool and classification matches were completed.

Germany finished top of the table with 13 points. The Germany national rugby sevens team secured the additional point through results across their fixtures, enabling them to conclude the leg ahead of both Kenya and the United States.

Kenya’s final outing of the tournament ended in a 21–5 defeat to the United States. The loss came in their last scheduled match and directly affected their position in the final standings.

Prior to the defeat, Kenya had registered victories in earlier matches during the two-day event. The hosts recorded wins against Belgium and Uruguay as they progressed through the pool stages.

Kenya also posted a 33–0 victory over Belgium during the tournament, one of the largest margins recorded in the Nairobi leg. The result contributed significantly to their points tally and points difference.

The competition featured six men’s teams competing in a round-robin format across the weekend. Points were awarded based on match outcomes, with standings determined by total points accumulated.

The 2026 HSBC SVNS Division Two forms part of the restructured global sevens pathway under World Rugby. The division serves as a qualification route toward promotion into the top-tier SVNS competition.

The Nairobi leg concluded with Germany leading on 13 points, the United States second on 12 points, and Kenya third on 12 points. The series now moves to the next scheduled leg as teams continue their campaign in the 2026 season.
