Kenya opens the paravolley competition with a double loss with hopes of coming up stronger

The Principle Secretary for Sports Elijah G Mwangi officially opened the Africa’s Para-Volley Championships in Nairobi at the Kasarani, indoor Arena in an event that saw convergence of incredible talents from across Africa in teams drawn from 6 countries participating in the tournament.

Kenya volleyball team for the persons with disability men side was eakier on Saturday beaten 3:2 by Algeria this evening in their first encounter in the Kasarani sports complex.

Algeria won the first set beating Kenya 25 to 14 before Kenya coming back strongly to win the second set 27 to 25 .

On the third set Algeria won again 25 to 14 in tha last set.

On the ladies side they were terribly defeated by Rwanda who beat Kenya 3 sets to zero in the same stadium.

The team has still some hopes of remaining in the competition.

Speaking after the game the world president of the competition Juergen Schrapp has motivated the Kenyan side saying it has a great team and despite the wins Kenya can bounce back and win the remaining games.

He has also praised the Kenyan volleyball federation in collaboration with persons with disabilities in organising the event and making sure everything is in order.
