Kenya Kwanza Delegates Accuse The President Of Betrayal
Political leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance have accused President Kenyatta of abusing power by engaging in politics and publicly stating his political stance.
The team led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, now wants the President to apologize for supporting ODM Party leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid.
“Mimi nimefanya kazi na yeye, na ninataka aombe taifa la Kenya msamaha kwa sababu siku ile walianzisha BBI, nilikuwa mmoja wa washauri wake.”said Murkomen on Sunday.
The leaders claimed that it was a betrayal since President Kenyatta had promised to back Ruto's presidential bid in the 2022 general elections.
“Nilienda kwake akatuambia kuwa anataka kuunganisha Kenya sio kwamba anafukuza naibu wake wa Rais, akasema atakuwa chief campaigner wa William Ruto 2022,” said Murkomen.
DP Ruto on the other hand says, he has forgiven President Uhuru Kenyatta for betraying him and endorsing Raila Odinga to succeed him.
“My brother Mr. President, we have seen what are doing to us, but because we are God-fearing we have forgiven you, we leave you to God. You have intimidated us but we have forgiven you,” He said.
“I walked with you when you needed a friend to walk with. We traversed the Country, kneeled before God so that the ICC case would go away. We walked with you during the trial and even traveled with you to the Hague,” He said.
He went on: “When you were looking for somebody to walk with during the 2013 elections, I was there but for four-and-a-half years you have made us suffer. You called us names but we are the ones who were with you in prayer,” Ruto said in reference to President Kenyatta.
Kenya Kwanza delegates have termed the endorsement as the greatest threat to the peace and democracy of the country, and want the Head of State to assure Kenyans that he will hand over power should Odinga fail to clinch the presidency.
The leaders accompanying Ruto played down Kalonzo’s entry into Azimio saying, he was forced to abandon his Presidential bid.
The leaders were speaking in Thika stadium during a Kenya Kwanza tour of the area to popularize DP Ruto’s presidential bid, among the leaders present was FORD Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Margaret Wanjiru, and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, among others.
