National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has reiterated the importance of unity and discipline within the Orange Democratic Movement, amid renewed public discussion about the party’s internal dynamics.
Junet said ODM remains united and functional, noting that internal debate is a normal feature of a democratic party and should not be mistaken for division.
He emphasised that party structures exist to accommodate differing opinions, but once decisions are reached through established organs, members are expected to rally behind them.
The Minority Leader dismissed claims that ODM is fractured, maintaining that loyalty to collective resolutions is essential for the party’s strength and credibility.
Separately, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna reaffirmed the party’s commitment to governance anchored on core national values and ethical leadership.
Sifuna said conversations around integrity, accountability and values-based politics must continue, even as political competition and external pressure intensify.
He maintained that ODM’s identity is rooted in democratic engagement and principled leadership, values the party intends to safeguard going forward.
The remarks come against the backdrop of sporadic disagreements within the party that have occasionally played out in public, fuelling speculation about cohesion.
ODM leaders, however, insist that internal consultations remain active and that unity remains central to the party’s political strategy and long-term outlook.
