The Linda Mwananchi tour held a major rally in Thika, Kiambu County, attracting a large crowd and senior opposition-linked leaders who continued their nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 political season. The event was marked by high political energy, with speakers emphasising unity and voter mobilisation.

Speakers used the platform to rally supporters around a shared political direction, urging cohesion across different regions. One of the dominant messages centred on building a broad-based movement across the country, with calls for collective action and political consolidation.

“Wangapi wamekubali tupeleke … Wangapi wamekubali to succeed?”

James Orengo was among the senior figures associated with the gathering, reinforcing his visible role in the ongoing tour that has recently featured engagements across several counties. His participation aligns with earlier appearances in similar rallies under the Linda Mwananchi umbrella.

The Thika meeting also featured contributions from other opposition-aligned leaders who have been part of the broader campaign structure, including Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Godfrey Osotsi, and Richard Onyonka, who have been consistent figures in recent rallies.

“Right now Sifuna is part of the solution. Babu is part of the solution. Osotsi is part of the solution. Orengo is part of the solution.”

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata received notable recognition during the event, with speakers highlighting his presence and political experience in the region. His participation was framed within broader discussions on leadership and regional representation.

“Kang’ata hoyee! Mkono juu, mkono juu, mkono juu, juu, mkono juu!”

A central theme of the Thika rally was the call for unity among opposition-leaning forces, with speakers emphasising the need to bring together different political actors into a coordinated national movement.

Speakers also made strong critiques of the current political environment, framing their message around governance concerns and national challenges. However, these remarks reflected political rhetoric typical of campaign-style gatherings.

“The problem, the problem is not Gachagua, is not Kalonzo. The problem is Ruto.”

The rally repeatedly returned to calls for national mobilisation and political change through democratic means, with leaders urging supporters to remain engaged and organised.

Crowd participation was high throughout the event, with chants and responses shaping the atmosphere as leaders addressed attendees in both Swahili and English, blending political messaging with rally-style engagement.

The Thika stop forms part of a wider Linda Mwananchi tour that has been moving across Central Kenya and other regions, with organisers indicating further rallies are planned in the coming days as the campaign continues to expand.
