JACARANDA UDA VERSE BABU OWINO CLASH
The United Democratic Alliance Secretary-General Veronica Maina has written to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to disqualify Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino from contesting in the August 9 polls for allegedly planning violence at Jacaranda Grounds.
The party says Babu is holding his opponent’s campaigns hostage contrary to the Constitution and the IEBC Code of Conduct.
UDA also went ahead to commission Inspector General of police Hillary Natembeya to explain what conspired on the ground that brought about the clash of venue booking as claimed by both parties.
The clash left two people injured.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance were later able to contain the audience which they later addressed with deputy president William Ruto asking the residence to be tolerant and of peaceful coexistence despite political division.
