Harambee Stars Unveil Final Squad for CHAN 2025 Under Benni McCarthy

The Football Kenya Federation has officially unveiled the Harambee Stars squad that will represent the nation in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The squad, announced under the leadership of new head coach Benni McCarthy, features a mix of experienced professionals and emerging local talents drawn from the domestic league, in line with CHAN regulations that only allow locally-based players.
In the goalkeeping department, Faruk Shikhalo, Byrne Omondi, and Sebastian Wekesa have been selected to provide the last line of defense. The defenders’ list features familiar names such as Abud Omar, who will captain the team, alongside Siraj Mohammed, Daniel Sakari, Michael Kibwage, and Sylvester Owino. The defense unit combines experience and youthful energy, a key ingredient for a tournament of this magnitude.
Midfield duties will be handled by a versatile group that includes Alpha Onyango, Brian Musa, Marvin Nabwire, Austin Odhiambo, and Ben Stanley. These players have shown consistency in domestic competitions and are expected to provide the creative spark and balance necessary to dominate the midfield battles during the tournament.
The attacking lineup boasts several seasoned names such as Masoud Juma and Boniface Muchiri, who will be joined by younger forwards like Mohammed Bajaber, David Sakwa, Felix Oluoch, Ryan Ogam, and Austin Odongo. This offensive mix provides coach McCarthy with multiple tactical options in front of goal, as Kenya aims to make a deep run in the competition.
