Guimarães Wants Arsenal Switch But Newcastle Refuse To Sell

Bruno Guimarães has reportedly informed Newcastle United that he wants to leave the club, with Arsenal emerging as his preferred destination. The Gunners are believed to be interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make an offer of up to £60 million for the 28-year-old, although no official contact has been made between the two clubs. Newcastle United remain firm in their position and are currently not willing to consider offers for one of their most important players.
Guimarães joined Newcastle from Olympique Lyonnais in 2022 and quickly became a key figure at St James’ Park. His performances, leadership and ability to control games have made him one of the Premier League’s most highly rated midfielders.
The Brazilian has played a major role in Newcastle’s progress under manager Eddie Howe, helping the club compete for European places and return to the top level of English football.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to view Guimarães as a player capable of adding strength, creativity and experience to his midfield options.
However, Newcastle’s ownership and management remain determined to keep the midfielder, who is considered central to the club’s long-term plans. The Magpies are under no pressure to sell due to Guimarães’ contract situation.
The transfer interest comes as Arsenal continue to monitor top midfield targets while preparing for another competitive Premier League campaign. A move for Guimarães would represent a major investment for the North London club.
