Greenwood Snubs Jamaica, Leaves Door Open For England Return

Mason Greenwood has rejected a call-up from Jamaica, leaving his international future in limbo and keeping alive the possibility of a return to the England national team.
The 22-year-old forward, who recently obtained a Jamaican passport and was expected to finalize a nationality switch, declined an invitation from Reggae Boyz head coach Steve McClaren for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Curaçao and Bermuda. Greenwood’s decision means he remains technically eligible for England, having not yet signed the formal paperwork with FIFA to complete the switch.
McClaren admitted disappointment at the snub but insisted he has not given up hope. He said Jamaica would continue to pursue Greenwood, expressing optimism that the Marseille striker could reconsider in time for future fixtures.
The move keeps Greenwood’s international options open, though the Football Association has shown little indication of recalling him to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. For now, Greenwood appears focused on his club career, delaying a final decision on his international allegiance
