APS Bomet vs Gor Mahia played at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium, Kericho.

Gor Mahia strengthened their hold on the FKF Premier League summit on Sunday with a 2‑1 victory over APS Bomet at the Kericho Green Stadium. The win lifts the 21‑time champions to 43 points, leaving them six clear of second‑placed AFC Leopards, who were held to a draw earlier in the weekend.

Gor Mahia drew first blood in the 7th minute as Ebenezer Assifuah capitalised on a defensive lapse to slot home the opener. The early goal gave the visitors momentum and forced APS Bomet onto the back foot.

For much of the first half, Gor Mahia controlled possession and created several half‑chances, but APS Bomet defended resolutely, keeping the deficit to a single goal at the break.

In the 81st minute, Jackson Dwang doubled Gor Mahia’s lead with a composed finish following a loose ball inside the box. APS Bomet responded almost immediately, with Hansel Ochieng pulling one back two minutes later, reducing the deficit to 2‑1.

Despite late pressure and a dangerous effort that hit the crossbar, Gor Mahia held on to secure the three points. The victory marks a key step in their title bid as the season approaches its decisive stages.

APS Bomet remain just above the relegation zone, but their spirited response after going two goals down earned praise from fans and pundits alike.

The result reinforces Gor Mahia’s status as the team to beat and sends a warning to title rivals that the defending champions are determined to maintain their lead.

With the win, Gor Mahia now have a six‑point cushion at the top of the league, strengthening their push for a 22nd Kenyan top‑flight title this season.
