Kenyan rugby mourns Felix ‘Ade’ Oloo, Lionesses coach and Nakuru RFC legend

Former Kenya Lionesses head coach and ex-Nakuru RFC player Felix “Ade” Oloo has died following a tragic road accident in the United States.

Oloo died on Monday, May 4, 2026, after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Interstate 405 in Bothell, Washington State.

According to early reports from local authorities, the incident occurred near NE 160th Street along a busy section of the freeway.

Police indicated that Oloo had exited a stopped vehicle before attempting to cross the highway on foot.

A northbound vehicle struck him during the crossing, causing fatal injuries at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident but confirmed that he had already succumbed to his injuries.

The driver involved in the accident reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officers during initial investigations.

Authorities in Washington have since launched a formal inquiry to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

In Kenya, the rugby fraternity expressed deep shock and sadness over the news of his death.

The Kenya Rugby Union described Oloo as a dedicated coach and mentor who contributed significantly to the development of rugby in the country.

Oloo, popularly known as “Ade,” had a long association with Nakuru RFC, where he played between 2003 and 2017.

During his playing career, he was part of a strong Nakuru side that competed in top-tier Kenyan rugby competitions and contributed to the club’s domestic success.

After retiring as a player, he transitioned into coaching and later took charge of the Kenya Lionesses, where he played a key role in developing women’s rugby at the national level.
