Chelsea have reached a pre-agreement to sign Dutch striker Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg in 2026, with the club moving early to secure one of Ligue 1’s most promising forwards.
The 21-year-old forward enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, scoring 14 goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances and helping Strasbourg qualify for European competition. Despite growing interest from Champions League and Premier League sides, Emegha made it clear he wanted to remain in France this season to lead Strasbourg’s European challenge.
Chelsea have now moved to tie up his long-term future, with the plan for him to join Enzo Maresca’s squad in the summer of 2026. Reports indicate the London club are preparing a seven-year contract for the Dutch international, who is under contract at Strasbourg until 2028.
The Blues, who already own Strasbourg through the BlueCo multi-club model, view Emegha as a key part of their long-term project. His expected arrival will add depth and youth to Chelsea’s attack, which continues to undergo major restructuring under Maresca.
While the agreement ensures Chelsea fend off competition for Emegha’s signature, the striker will remain at Strasbourg for at least the 2025-26 season, before making his highly anticipated move to Stamford Bridge.
