Chelsea Closing In On Garnacho As Winger Rejects Bayern Approach

Chelsea are edging closer to completing the sensational signing of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, with talks between the two Premier League rivals advancing quickly.
The 21-year-old Argentine has made it clear that he only wants a move to Stamford Bridge, rejecting an approach from Bayern Munich in the past 48 hours. Garnacho is understood to have told United that if a deal is not struck with Chelsea this summer, he would rather remain out of Erik ten Hag’s squad until the January window than move elsewhere.
Negotiations are continuing between the clubs, with United initially valuing Garnacho at around £50 million. Chelsea, however, are pushing to close the deal for closer to £30–35 million, and reports suggest United could ultimately accept a lower fee given Garnacho’s homegrown status, which would count as pure profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The Blues’ ability to finalise the transfer may hinge on their outgoing business, particularly the sale of Christopher Nkunku. Bayern Munich’s loan proposal for the Frenchman has been rejected, with Chelsea insisting on a permanent move before sanctioning incoming deals. Until that situation is resolved, progress on Garnacho and other targets, including Xavi Simons, remains slowed.
Even so, optimism is growing in west London that an agreement is within reach, with both clubs maintaining a strong working relationship. A breakthrough is expected soon, raising the prospect of Garnacho becoming one of the headline moves of the summer transfer window.
