CAF Slaps FKF with Sh6.5M Fine, Warns of Possible Venue Relocation.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Sh6.5 million for safety and security breaches during the CHAN 2024 Group A match between Kenya and Morocco at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Sunday. The violations included inadequate stadium security and failure to enforce road closures.
This brings FKF’s total fines to Sh9 million after an earlier Sh2.5 million penalty for breaches in a fixture against DR Congo. The amount must be settled within 60 days. CAF warned that repeated violations could see Harambee Stars’ home matches moved to foreign venues and jeopardize Kenya’s right to host CHAN quarterfinals, even if the team qualifies.
In a Wednesday ruling, CAF urged Kenya to increase security by deploying more personnel inside stadium perimeters and strictly enforcing road closures on match days. FKF President Hussein Mohamed described the sanctions as a serious setback for Kenyan football.
