Boston Marathon 2023: Evans Chebet wins men’s race, Hellen Obiri triumphs in Women race.

Defending champion Evans Chebet powered to a strong finish at the Boston Marathon on Monday, claiming the first position ahead of Eliud Kipchoge who came at sixth.

The 2022 champion became the first man athlete to defend the Boston crown since compatriot Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot completed a hat-trick of victories from 2006-2008.

Chebet finished in a time of 2:05:54 with Tanzanian Gabriel Geay finishing second in 2:06:04, and Kenyan Benson Kipruto claiming the third spot in 2:06:04.

Elsewhere, Kenya’s Hellen Obiri claimed a brilliant victory in the women’s race at the Boston Marathon on Monday, winning a thrilling closing contest with Amane Beriso to take the title in only her second race over the distance.

Obiri, a two-time world champion over 5,000m, finished in 2hr 21min 38sesonds ahead of Ethiopia’s Beriso who came in second finishing with 2:21:50 while Israel’s Lonah Salpeter settled for third place in 2:21:57.
