Barcelona Line Up €135M Move For Julián Álvarez As Atlético Stand Firm

Barcelona have submitted an official €100m offer to Atlético Madrid for Julián Álvarez with no add-ons or players included.

Reports across Spain indicate that FC Barcelona are actively working on a major proposal to sign Julián Álvarez, with figures circulating around a package worth roughly €135 million including performance-related add-ons. The structure of the deal is said to be designed to make the move more acceptable to Atlético Madrid, who remain firm on their valuation.

The Catalan club are understood to be preparing an initial offer closer to the €100 million mark, with the remaining value tied to bonuses and conditional payments. The strategy reflects Barcelona’s current financial approach, which prioritises staggered payments and structured deals rather than upfront fees.

However, Atlético Madrid have publicly and privately pushed back against the growing speculation, insisting they have not received any formal offer for the Argentine forward. Club sources maintain that Álvarez is central to their long-term project and not currently available for transfer.

Despite that stance, transfer reporting suggests Barcelona view Álvarez as a priority attacking target ahead of the 2026 World Cup cycle, with internal discussions focused on completing any deal early in the summer window to avoid prolonged negotiations.

The player’s camp is also reported to be open to evaluating options, with Barcelona repeatedly mentioned as a preferred destination in several accounts, particularly due to sporting project appeal and the chance to become a central attacking figure in Catalonia.

Other elite European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and several Premier League sides, are also tracking the situation, although Barcelona are currently described as one of the most proactive clubs in the race.

A key meeting is reportedly being prepared involving Barcelona sporting director Deco, representatives of Álvarez, and Atlético officials, aimed at clarifying valuation differences and potential deal structure. No agreement has emerged from those discussions so far.

The main sticking point remains the financial gap, with Atlético believed to value the player significantly higher—around the €150 million range—while Barcelona’s internal ceiling appears to sit closer to €100 million before add-ons and player exchanges.

At this stage, the situation remains unresolved, with no confirmed bid submitted and both clubs holding firm positions, meaning any transfer outcome will depend heavily on whether one side adjusts valuation expectations in the coming weeks.
