Australia defeat Harambee Starlets 2-0 to win FIFA Series title in Nairobi

Australia secured a composed 2–0 victory over Harambee Starlets in the final of the FIFA Women’s Series 2026 at Nyayo National Stadium, sealing the title with a disciplined and clinical performance in Nairobi.

The Matildas dictated the tempo for long stretches of the contest, using quick ball movement and structured pressing to keep the Kenyan side largely pinned in their own half.

Kenya showed early intent in front of a lively home crowd but found it difficult to sustain possession as Australia gradually imposed control in midfield.

The opening goal came in the first half after sustained pressure from Australia, who capitalised on space created behind the Kenyan defensive line to take the lead.

After the break, the visitors maintained their intensity and added a second goal, effectively putting the final beyond Kenya’s reach and allowing them to manage the game comfortably.

Harambee Starlets attempted to respond through counter-attacks and set-piece situations but struggled to break through Australia’s well-organised defensive structure.

Goalkeeper interventions and defensive blocks kept Kenya in contention for periods, but the pressure from the Australian attack proved relentless across both halves.

Australia’s victory capped an unbeaten run in the tournament, having earlier recorded a dominant 5–0 win over Malawi to reach the final, while Kenya had advanced after a 2–0 semifinal win over India.

Despite the defeat, Kenya’s run to the final was seen as a valuable step in their development, with the match offering high-level exposure against one of the strongest teams in women’s football.
