Arsenal F.C. are reportedly preparing to complete the permanent signing of Piero Hincapié from Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the end of the current season as the club continues strengthening its defensive options.

The 24-year-old Ecuador international is expected to make the move to north London once the campaign concludes, with Arsenal planning to secure the defender on a long-term deal.

Hincapié has attracted attention for his consistent performances in European football and his ability to operate both as a centre-back and as a left-sided defender.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to view the defender as an ideal addition to his system due to his composure on the ball, defensive awareness, and versatility across the back line.

The Ecuadorian joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad during the club’s successful domestic campaigns.

During his time in Germany, Hincapié gained experience in the Bundesliga and European competitions, strengthening his reputation as one of South America’s most promising defenders.

Arsenal have been monitoring defensive reinforcements as they look to maintain competitiveness in both the Premier League and continental tournaments.

The Gunners believe Hincapié’s age and development trajectory align with the club’s strategy of building a squad capable of competing for major trophies over the coming seasons.

Club officials are expected to finalize the transfer arrangements once the season ends, with discussions reportedly progressing between both sides.

Hincapié is also a key player for the Ecuador national football team, where he has earned praise for his leadership and defensive stability.

If the deal is completed, the defender would become another significant addition to Arsenal’s squad as the club continues its long-term rebuild under Arteta.
