English Premier League giants Arsenal F.C. have sent memorabilia to Kenya to honour longtime supporter and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, recognising his decades-long passion for the club.
The package was received in Nairobi by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) communications director Philip Etale, who revealed that the items were addressed from London and intended as a tribute to Odinga’s enduring support.
Included in the package was a photo mount from Arsenal’s Premier League match against Liverpool on January 8, 2026, a game that ended in a goalless draw. Club officials said it was selected as a special commemorative piece for Odinga.
Alongside the memorabilia, Arsenal included a personal message stating “Arsenal remembers Raila Odinga”, highlighting the former leader’s loyalty and the respect he garnered among fans of the club globally.
Etale described the gesture as “heartwarming” and noted that it reflects the long-standing connection between Odinga and the club, which has been celebrated by Kenyan football enthusiasts for decades.
The memorabilia also included signed items and official club merchandise, intended to celebrate Odinga’s influence both as a political figure and as an ambassador for football fandom in Kenya.
This tribute comes amid ongoing engagement between Arsenal and fans across Africa, as the club seeks to strengthen its ties with supporters on the continent. Kenyan fans have long counted Odinga among their most prominent football supporters, and the gesture has been widely appreciated.
Social media users and local football fans have praised the club’s initiative, describing it as a touching recognition of a fan who inspired generations in Kenya to follow international football.
Arsenal’s package serves not only as a memorial for Raila Odinga’s loyalty but also as a reminder of the growing global reach of English football and the club’s effort to maintain connections with its fans worldwide.
