Arsenal Women booked their place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals after edging out Chelsea Women 3–2 on aggregate in a tense quarter-final tie decided on April 1, 2026 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea secured a 1–0 victory in the second leg in front of their home fans, but it was not enough to overturn the deficit from the first leg, where Arsenal had claimed a commanding 3–1 win to take control of the tie.

The decisive first leg saw Arsenal deliver a clinical attacking performance, with Stina Blackstenius, Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo all getting on the scoresheet to hand their side a crucial advantage heading into the return fixture.

In the second leg, Chelsea pushed aggressively from the start, dominating possession and creating several chances as they sought to overturn the two-goal deficit against a disciplined Arsenal side.

Their persistence paid off late in the game when Sjoeke Nüsken found the net in stoppage time, giving Chelsea a slender win on the night and briefly raising hopes of a dramatic comeback.

However, Arsenal’s defensive resilience ensured they held firm under pressure, managing the game effectively to see out the result and secure progression to the last four of the competition.

The match was not without controversy, as an incident involving Katie McCabe sparked debate, while Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor was sent off following protests over refereeing decisions during the heated encounter.

The result marks a significant achievement for Arsenal as they continue their European campaign, while Chelsea are left to reflect on missed opportunities despite a spirited second-leg performance in the London derby.
