April Fools Day.
We at Signs TV have decided to award our loyal readers. Whoever shares this post the most, gets to be on a show of their choice and win a little money to kick start their Easter.
The catch however is that you have to share it today, the first day of April. A day that has been unofficially celebrated for centuries around the world.
People often get a kick out of others and enjoy the havoc it causes before they get to yell, “April Fools!” at the end of it.
Though its origins are unclear, some historians speculate that April Fools started in 1582, after France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
In the Julian calendar, the New Year began on April 1. People who were slow to get the news that the new year now begun on January 1, continued to celebrate it on April 1. They would then be referred to as “April Fools”.
There are variations on how different cultures celebrate April Fools, but playing pranks remains a common practice. Pranks like switching out salt for sugar, applying nail polish on soap so it doesn’t lather and making up a fake contest to get people to share your article.
