British‑Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria. Local authorities confirmed that the vehicle carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck near the Makun/Sagamu interchange, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The crash resulted in the deaths of two people at the scene. Police said the identities of the victims have not yet been released, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation by traffic authorities and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Authorities confirmed that he was conscious and stable, while his management team has yet to release an official statement.
Eyewitnesses reported that Joshua’s vehicle, a Lexus SUV, lost control and struck the parked truck. Bystanders and emergency responders assisted at the scene, and video footage circulating online shows the boxer being helped from the wreckage.
The incident comes just days after Joshua’s high-profile knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami, marking a return to form in the boxing ring. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on the busy expressway as investigations into the crash continue.
