Murkomen Named Interior CS as Kagwe Makes a Comeback
President William Ruto on Thursday made significant changes to his Cabinet by nominating, re-assigning, and appointing officials to the senior ranks.
In an announcement by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has been appointed to the Ministry of Interior, a position previously held by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
To fill the vacancy created by CS Murkomen's appointment, Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has been transferred from the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.
In a further adjustment, former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has been nominated to take over the Trade Ministry, previously held by Mvurya.
In other notable changes, former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, who served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet, was nominated to lead the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, replacing Dr Andrew Karanja, who has been sent to Brazil as Ambassador.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, replacing Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, who has been appointed High Commissioner to Ghana.
