Morocco edge Ghana to qualify for Semis
AFCON U23 hosts Morocco produced a sterling performance to beat Ghana 5-1 in their Group A match on Tuesday, sealing their place in the semi-finals.
Team Morocco opened the scoring in the 7th minute through Amir Richardson before Ismael Saibari extended the host’s lead six minutes later and Yanis Begraoui added third goal in the 30th minute.
Ghana held onto their straws and got their solo goal two minutes from the end of the 1st half courtesy of Salim Adams.
The home team sealed their Five-star performance in the second half with goals from Adel and Begraoui sealing their semi-final spot in style.
The win put the hosts in control of group A with six points and assured them of leading the group after seeing off Guinea 2-1 in the opening match.
The Atlas Lions will return to Prince Mouley Abdellah Stadium this Saturday, in what would be a challenging task against Congo.
In the earlier match, Congo was eliminated after succumbing to a 3-1 loss to Guinea.
